In this DIY project, Pieter shares his experience with assembling, assembling and painting his custom-made TOSIZE Furniture cabinet online. He opted for MDF so that he could paint the cabinet in the identical black color (RAL 9004). It has become a beautiful result to be proud of.

We put together a custom TOSIZE Furniture shelving unit via the website in mid-January 2023 with the configurator tool. Configuring is self-explanatory and you can determine your desired layout in just a few minutes. In our case, it concerns a compartment cabinet measuring 215 x 192 x 40 cm with 30mm thick MDF sheet material with a total of 12 compartments and 3 cupboard spaces.

How I made this project

p>After receiving the delivery, which was neatly delivered to the front door on a disposable pallet, we displayed all the sheet material in the living room. All sheet metal is provided with a handy sticker with unique numbering. Each part can be traced back from the supplied construction drawing, making it virtually impossible to assemble the cabinet parts in the wrong order. The entire assembly of the cabinet was completed in about 1.5 hours and can in principle be completed in this time frame by anyone with minimal DIY experience. A tip from us is to use the wooden "dowels" with which you connect the MDF plates together, hammer them into the holes as far as possible (with a rubber mallet). This prevents gaps from developing between the sheet metal. After the cabinet was assembled, we primed it with primer, in our case with a RAL9004 color. Deliberately chose this color because we previously painted the stairs with this and the TV cabinet is also provided with this color. Prime painting is not our favorite activity, but it is part of it ;). The entire cabinet (except for the back) has been primed twice with a paint roller and then also coated twice with paint. We opted for the Sikkens brand and the Rubbol BL variant, which is impact and scratch resistant. Finally, when everything had been provided with a double layer of primer and paint, we installed the cabinet doors as the last part. This is also a fairly simple job because the hinge holes have already been perfectly milled. So you can hardly assemble it incorrectly, which is really the big advantage of the way in which this webshop delivers its products and which we were also somewhat pleasantly surprised by. The cupboard has been on display in our living room for a while now and we still have to slowly replenish it with things, but that will improve over time. All in all, very satisfied with this purchase and because it took a lot of hours (especially painting), we are also extra proud of the end result.
