A Beautiful Model Railway Paradise in Your Own Home
Have you always dreamed of having your own model railway? Michiel has made his dream a reality with these impressive model railway module sets, complete with carefully planned track and wiring.
The Perfect Construction
Michiel opted for a sturdy and durable construction using Plywood Interior Poplar B/BB. This high-quality material creates a lightweight yet strong base, perfect for a model railway. The modular units are designed to be easily connected, making them ideal for future expansions.
An Admirable Position
The model railway is housed in the hobby room, where it's not only functional but also a real eye-catcher. The boxes are sleek and neatly finished, giving the space a vibrant feel. The choice of light wood tones makes the room feel larger and brighter, perfectly suited to a hobby that demands precision and attention to detail.
Unique Design Features
Thanks to the custom-sawn wooden sections of TOSIZE.fi, Michiel has complete control over the dimensions and design of his project. The precisely laid wiring on the underside of the boxes demonstrates craftsmanship and dedication, making it easy to prevent malfunctions.

DIY tips
A handy tip for working with plywood is to always use sharp saw blades for the best cutting results. Don't forget to lightly sand the edges for a smooth finish.

Step by step guide
Preparation
- First, I carefully measured the dimensions of my modular boxes. I wanted a panel on top and raised edges on the bottom. Then, I needed to add a railway embankment to that panel. The wood for that was also ordered to size.
Montage
- It was actually quite easy, partly because the dimensions were accurate. I could simply place the front, back, and sides against the panel. The dimensions matched perfectly.
Finish
- I ran wires and hung electrical components on the underside of the panel, which will later be used to connect the rails (which will go on top of the panel). In hindsight, I should have used taller sides of 8 cm; they're now 4 cm. I should also have used thicker wood.
- Unfortunately, due to health issues, my order has now been delayed by a year. I'm going to order more wood to improve the existing boxes. Incidentally, the remaining wood for my model railway comes from an order I placed years ago.
